Gradient Map Adjustment Layer

It doesn't get used all that often but it's quite a powerful and fun color correction tool which can produce some pretty nice results. Let’s see how a gradient map works. One is by going up to the layer menu in the menu bar:

This is a great idea as it allows you to blend the map in to your image further as you wish. Unlike a gradient fill, which fills an area by using a linear or radiant blend of colors, the gradient map applies the gradient by using the lightness and darkness values in the image as a map for how the gradient colors are applied. If you're using photoshop cs4 as i am here, the options for the gradient map will appear in the adjustments panel which is new to cs4.

I would certainly prefer it, and feel adjustment layers in general should be added to 3dcoat.
